Weekend in the City

What a wonderful few days in London! We started at Wimbledon on a scorching Thursday in London, we arrived just after 11am with our champagne & M&S picnic full of excitement & expectation, we spent the day eating, drinking (mostly water) & cheering our tennis superstars, we both wore linen, mine from H&M & Jase’s from Next, but a kaftan would have been more appropriate, we both needed a cold shower by the end of the day!

On Friday we jumped on the tube out to Kew Gardens, another beautiful day, as soon as we got off the train we were greeted with stylish artisan cafes & restaurants, fabulous independent stores  all selling beautiful produce, it had a really stylish vibe! We strolled for 10 minutes admiring the properties on route to Kew Gardens, then spent the rest of the day enjoying the fabulous glass houses, inspirational planting all over Kew from the allotments, to the rock gardens & the glorious tropical plants. We had a very tasty & healthy lunch at The Orangery, which we have re-created for our family since we got home.

We left Kew at 3pm so we could save a bit of energy, we showered & changed then jumped back on the tube to Hammersmith, where we ate delicious Turkish food then spent the evening at the Apollo being entertained by Erykah Badu, she is one of my all time favourite artists & the concert was celebrating 20 years of Baduizm. She & her band were fantastic, but i have never been so hot in all my life, the Apollo seriously need to fit air Conditioning!!!

Saturday we celebrated our 22nd Wedding Anniversary, so i donned my orange flairs from AQAQ, sheer blouse from H&M & metallic mules from River Island & strolled down Regent St window shopping at Tory Birch, Massimo Dutti & Kate Spade, did Jase buy me anything? I hear you ask, no need! as he had bought me a day with Adam Frost, garden designer 🙂 so excited, I have a passion for gardening, I don’t have loads of know how, but i have lots of passion & enthusiasm 🙂 & a fabulous garden. We took a sharp right off Regent St at Burlington Gardens to Cecconi’s where we enjoyed a delicious lunch followed by The Philanthropist at Trafalgar studios.

Back at The Bloomsbury we enjoyed a G&T on the terrace then walked to Pescatori’s on Charlotte St, I wore my new gingham dress from Bimba Y Lola & sparkly sandals from River Island, I love my new dress, I bought it for a black & white party & it proved to be a big hit. After dinner we strolled back to The Bloomsbury cocktail bar where we made friends with Chi Chi the fabulous bartender or mixologist! We enjoyed various tipples into the early hours 🙂

Late Sunday morning we met friends Steve & Julie at Euston station, left our luggage to pick up later then rode the Northern line to Waterloo where we had amazing street food & drink (pints of Pimms) at Southbank Centre food market  behind Festival Hall, at 3pm we boarded a Soul Boat at Festival Pier where we danced like no one was watching at a white themed party til 8pm. Dj’s all of a similar age to us played fantastic sets from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & noughties, soul, funk & dance tracks, this fabulous event was put together by CJ Carlos, one of the fantastic dj’s we listen to on internet radio stations, Starpoint Radio, Solar Radio & Mi-Soul.

As you can imagine after such a hectic few days we were quite  fatigued! But, what a wonderful few days in London!
